Noel Boland - Ain't Nothin' wrong with the radio
There ain't nothin' wrong with the new single from singer/songwriter NOEL BOLAND, that's for sure. The Carlow native - who is currently based in Blessington, Wicklow - has lined up the early 1990s hit from from Aaron Tippin, AIN'T NOTHIN' WRONG WITH THE RADIO, to signal his return to the nation's airwaves when it's released on November 11th.
"Ain't Nothin' Wrong With The Radio" will also mark a significant personal milestone in Boland's musical career, with the single's forthcoming release also being his first as an artist on the Downda Road Productions roster. A song that has such a positive sentiment towards radio built into its title certainly seems like an inspired choice from Boland and his team. In fact, as debut singles go, "Ain't Nothin' Wrong With The Radio" - which spent three weeks at the top of the U.S. country charts for Aaron Tippin back in 1992 - this is a great call. Not only does it point clearly to the under-stated, old-fashioned charm of Boland himself, it's also guaranteed to raise a smile from fans who hold a special place in their hearts for country music's traditionalists Artists like Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Tammy Wynette were the vanguard for so many who followed the trails they first blazed, with Tippin very much among and to the forefront of that number. To see a contemporary Irish country artist tipping his hat in that direction (if you'll pardon the pun!), which in itself highlights an awareness of and an appreciation for both a golden age of country music and some of the giants of the genre, is sure to have fans excited at the prospect of what might come next from Boland. And that inevitable sense of anticipation will owe much to the excitement already being generated by "Ain't Nothin' Wrong With The Radio" |
